Police officer arrested on suspicion of theft

A police officer has been arrested on suspicion of theft in Gaafu Alifu Maamendhoo.

Sources have told Sun Online that Ilham Shukuoor, from Gaafu Alifu Vilingili, is suspected of having stolen from the ‘tusnami site’ in Maamendhoo.

The police spokesperson told Sun Online that a police officer was arrested under a warrant last night, on suspicion of theft from the tsunami shelters in Maamendhoo.

Electronics and other items have been found at the suspect’s residence, said police.

The suspect has been given detention of ten days by Maamendhoo Court.

The case is under investigation by Maamendhoo Police Station.
