Crystal meth confiscated from house in Mal

Police have confiscated crystal meth, a drug normally not found in Maldives, in a drug operation yesterday morning.

The police spokesperson told Sun Online that the drugs were found at M. Aero Villa, Malé.

A 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene, and drugs believed to be crystal meth and heroine were confiscated, said police.

The suspect has been given detention of five days by Criminal Court.

Police said that the suspect was sentenced to prison after being convicted of terrorism in relation to the arson attack on government buildings and police stations in Malé in 2003, and released from prison by the government of former President Mohamed Nasheed.
