Man dies in accident in Kulhudhuffushi

One person has died, while another is left in a coma following an accident in Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi last night where two motorcycles ran into a wall.

Ahmed Ibrahim, 21, of Dhitthundi, Kulhudhuffushi, died in the accident which occurred at around 3:55 last night; while Adam Sinah, 18, of Feyrugasdhoshuge, Kulhudhuffushi is in a coma. It was reported earlier that Sinah had also died, after a Police media official confirmed this and sent an SMS alert.

“We sent that information because that was the information we had received. But we understand now that he did not die,” the Police media official said.

Ahmed Ibrahim died at around 5:30 in the morning during treatment at the hospital. Sinah went into a coma while he was being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He is currently on ventilator.

Police informed that both men suffered serious head injuries and bleeding through the nose and ears. When Police arrived at the scene, one man was under the motorcycle, and the other was lying about 14ft away from the motorcycle. Both were unconscious.

Police believes that the accident occurred when the motorcycles hit the wall of Havaanaage in Kulhudhuffushi.

The motor cycles were also severely damaged in the accident.

It is not yet known why the motorcycles ran into the wall. Police are investigating the incident.
