The Parliamentary Committee on National Security has suspended Sujau Hussain, and passed a motion to propose to the parliament to remove him as a member of the Local Government Authority (LGA).
This was passed with seven votes in favour at a meeting of the committee held at 1:30 p.m. today. The motion was voted against by two members.
LGA Member and Gemanafushi MP Jameel Usman told Sun Online that the case against Sujau was submitted to the parliament by LGA and some MPs.
Recently, Sujau filed a no-confidence motion to the Board of LGA to remove LGA President and Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim from LGA.
The motion was never put on the agenda of any of LGA’s meetings, but Sujau arranged and led a meeting where members voted and passed the motion.
Following the vote, Nazim called a press conference and said that the voting was conducted in violation of regulations, and he was therefore still the rightful President of LGA.
