Man sentenced to one year in prison for stealing cash, camera from tourist

Criminal Court has on Sunday sentenced a man to one year in prison for stealing cash and a camera from a tourist.

Ibrahim Fiyaz of Naainfaruge, Addu City has been sentenced for stealing from a guest house where Hannah Leath V Nenko of Ukraine was living on 17 April 2013.

The court said in its verdict issued on Sunday that this was the first criminal record of Fiyaz.

State has charged Fiyaz and an additional man over the case. However, the other man was not found guilty for these charges as sufficient evidence was not provided against him.
