Akon arrives in Maldives

American R&B and hip hop artist Akon has arrived in the Maldives at around 7:30 a.m. this morning.

Akon, who will perform at the Tourist Arrival Countdown (TAC) Music Festival at the National Stadium in Male’ tonight, was greeted upon arrival by Minister of Tourism Ahmed Adeeb.

Show organiser, Chopart, has announced that Indian movie star Priyanka Chopra would also perform at the show.

Earlier, Jamaican artist Sean Paul cancelled his appearance at the TAC show – initially scheduled for New Year’s Eve - after he was given death threats by a local group. Indian artist Salim-Sulaiman performed at the show instead.
