The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has said that the Waqf Bill, regarding the administration of donations for religious or charitable purposes, would be submitted to the parliament in about six months.
Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Aishath Muneeza told Sun Online that the first draft of the bill is complete, and that work is ongoing now to hold discussions with relevant institutions.
She said that the new law would put procedures and policies in place, regarding spending for religious purposes.
Efforts are also ongoing by Islamic Ministry in cooperation with the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to establish a waqf building, named Dhaarul Iman.
