Chinese Ambassador: Male

Ambassador of China to the Maldives Wang Fukang has said that the recent water crisis in Male’ has brought the peoples of China and Maldives closer.

This came in a statement by the Ambassador highlighting the exchanges between the two countries in 2014.

Wang said that following the water crisis, China sent drinking water through all the direct commercial flights from different cities in China to Male,’ as well as on China Air Force crafts and Navy ships, and further pledged $500,000 grant aid towards relieving the crisis.

“With all these efforts, the Chinese people have once again demonstrated to the world that they will stand together with the Maldivian people through thick and thin.”

He also referred to the enhancement and expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries, and said that the two governments recently concluded the first meeting of Joint Committee on Economic and Trade Cooperation, where important cooperation initiatives were discussed.
