President Yameen: Remarkable milestones reached in fulfilling electoral pledges in 2014

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom has said that remarkable milestones have been reached by the government in fulfilling its electoral pledges.

In an address given by the president on the occasion of the New Year, President Yameen has extend New Year greetings to all Maldivians and has said that the year 2014 has been a prosperous and joyful year for all Maldivian people.

The President also noted that the Government was able to resolve some of the major challenges faced in the country.

President Yameen highlighted on the important measures taken by the government in the year 2014, to turn around the country’s economy from the state it was in at the time of his assumption of office. He has said that the people of Maldives have witnessed the beneficial results of these measures taken by the Government.

As Government’s aim was to assist the development of the youth’s skills and aptitudes, and to empower them, President Yameen has noted the efforts being made to provide more job opportunities and higher education opportunities for the youth.

In his message the President has noted that the year 2015 would mark 50 years of independence of the country and this year will take Maldives to new milestones. In that regard, President has said that the budget passed by the Parliament for the year 2015 will facilitate to inaugurate many new projects that can benefit the islands and can help people of Maldives to live a better life.
