Commissioner of Police (CP) Hussain Waheed has said that all the people who enter to see the concert of Sean Paul would be screened for security purpose before allowing them to enter National Stadium, where the show would be hosted.
The famous rapper Sean Paul has planned to come to Maldives upon a request from Tourism Minister Ahmed Adeeb.
In interview given to Sun Online CP said that, even in other countries, it is a responsibility of the police to maintain the security when such events are held.
“Police will do everything possible in order to maintain the security. In that regard, the audience and things carried by the audience to the concert will be screened” said CP Hussain Waheed.
A video regarding the show to be held at the beginning of the New Year that includes a death threat against Sean Paul has been uploaded in YouTube. After the video has been posted, oppositions have talked in ways that can raise questions about the proficiency of police and have raised concerns over what may happen if the security of the concert is not maintained.
CP has called to follow how oppositions in civilized countries react to such issues rather than defaming the whole institution of police in pressurizing the government.
The show in the name of “Tourist Arrival Countdown” to be held to mark tourist arrival number to Maldives by the end of this year will be carried out with events of fireworks as well.
Tourism Minister, who has invited Sean Paul to Maldives has said that show would be held despite of the threat and police have started investigating the case of threat while strengthening and ensuring the security.
