The hearing scheduled at the Criminal Court for 1:00 p.m. today regarding the murder of Abdul Muheeth, G. Veyru, Male’, has been cancelled.
The defence lawyer said that the court did not inform any reason for the cancellation.
The state has brought charges against Muhjath Ahmed Nasih, Gaafu Dhaalu Gadhdhoo; Ali Mushaffau, Seenu Maradhoo; and Mohamed Maimoon, Lhaviyani Naifaru; following Muheeth’s murder.
Muhjath Ahmed Nasih and Ali Mushaffau have been charged with murder, while Mohamed Maimoon has been charged with being an accessory to the murder.
All suspects have denied the charges.
At the last hearing, a police forensic expert was questioned about a phone call recording presented as evidence.
Muheeth died at 1:50 a.m. on 19 February 2012, after being stabbed in a blind alley in Male’. He was sitting on a motorcycle at the time of the attack.
Two minors have already been convicted of Muheeth’s murder, and sentenced to death by the Juvenile Court. The sentence has been appealed in High Court.
