President Abdullah Yameen has decided to not levy any duties on rice, sugar and flour, which constitute the most basic items in the Maldivian cuisine together with fish.
A while ago, Ahmed Adeeb, the Ministry of Tourism tweeted saying that the President’s decision came in an impromptu meeting of the Economic Council at the President’s Office, which was in progress at the time.
“In an impromptu meeting that is still in progress, the President has decided to not levy any duties on rice, sugar and flour”, read Adeeb’s tweet.
