India’s National Security Advisor, Shri Ajit Doval, has paid a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on Wednesday.

According to President’s Office, President and the National Security Advisor explored avenues to further strengthen bilateral relations between Maldives and India, particularly in the area of security.

Presidents’ Office said that President Yameen assured Shri Doval of his Administration’s firm resolve to continue cooperating with India in the interest of regional peace and security by highlighting the special historical relationship between the two countries.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dunya Maumoon, Minister at the President’s Office, Mohamed Hussain Shareef and the Foreign Secretary, Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed joined at the call with the president. High Commissioner of India to Maldives, Mr. Rajeev Shahare, and Joint Secretary of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, Ms. Suchitra Durai also joined at the call.
