President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom has arranged funding for the internship of 15 doctors who have done MBBS (Medicine Bachelors Bachelors Surgery) in Bangladesh.
In an event held at Health Ministry on Tuesday to sign the agreements to renovate health Centers at Gaafu Alifu Dhevvadhoo, Baa Kendhoo and Haa Alifu Thuraakunu, Minister Nazim said that there were many doctors in Maldives with MBBS who were unable to complete the internship. Minister added that opportunities from a University at Bangladesh have been confirmed under the efforts made by the government to provide internship to those in need. In that regard, Minister said that while 15 slots have been provided by the University at Bangladesh, 14 people have been met and informed about this. According to Minister, 15 doctors who are selected for the internship will be informed on Wednesday.
Minister said that renovation of Health Centers established at most of the islands were in progress and the government aims to renovate all these Health Center by mid-2015.
