Airports Company introduces scholarship scheme in honor of Nasir

Maldives Airports Company Limited has announced today that the company will start a scholarship scheme in honor of late President of the country, Ibrahim Nasir. The scheme is announced less than a month after the government renamed Malé International Airport after Ibrahim Nasir.

Airports Company said that the scholarship scheme was introduced as a contribution to the government’s efforts to develop human resources in the Maldives.

According to information provided by Airports Company, the scholarship would be for a first degree program, and the applicant could choose a university. The Company would provide full funds for tuition fees, and a fixed stipend would be provided for all other expenses including food and accommodation.

Airports Company said that the scholarship was named Ibrahim Nasir Scholarship as the late President was the one who founded the only international airport in the country. The airport located in Hulhule, a 25-minute boat-journey from Malé, which had been known until less than a month ago as Malé International Airport, is presently called Ibrahim Nasir International Airport.

Airports Company has not stated that students under the scholarship should pick up a particular area of training and studies for the scholarship.
