15 Housing Units built in Kulhuduffushi handed over to the Council

15 housing units built in H. Dh. Kulhuduffushi under the governments Housing Program have been completed and handed over to the local Council.

At a ceremony held yesterday, keys of the housing units were handed over to the Council by Muhammad Jamsheed, Co-ordinator of the Ministry of Housing.

This would be the first completed units out of a total of 168 to be built in Kulhuduffushi.

Ali Muhammad, President of Kulhuduffushi Council told Sun Online today that two of the units are already occupied by two families. He also said that the remaining 13 would be under the supervision of the Council until they are given to families.

Ali also said that application for the unfinished housing units is now open and that the Council would also entertain any complaints regarding the awarding process of housing units to applicants.

“We are doing this in a very systematic and planned manner. We would be assessing applicants and giving them points based on set criteria. The Council and the Ministry of Housing are trying to finish the remaining units and hand them over to selected families by March next year,” said Ali.

The units built near the Jalaaluddin School in Kulhuduffushi were constructed by the Housing Development Corporation.

The project was started during the presidency of Nasheed. The current government has plans for 65 additional housing units, and Ali said that land plots have already been given for the new units and that work would begin soon.
