Two companies have been assigned to renovate health centers at two islands.
In an event held at Health Ministry on Tuesday, acting Health Minister Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim signed the agreements assigning to renovate Gaafu Dhaalu Madaveli Health Center and Thaa Dhiyamigili Health Center.
Pollen Company Private Limited has been assigned to renovate washroom, electrical wiring issues and rectification and renovation of required places of Madaveli Health Center. Ahmed Rashid, Managing Director of that company, in this regard signed the agreement of the project of MVR 940,000 to complete the project within 65 days.
Minister Nazim said that the range of services provided by Madaveli Health Center would be widened and quality of the services would be improved on completion of the project.
Project to renovate Dhiyamigili Health Center worth MVR 380,000 has been assigned to ISF Construction. Ibrahim Shareef, Managing Director of ISF Construction signed the agreement. According to the agreement, this project must be completed within 75 days of signing.
Minister Nazim said that additional Health Centers would be assigned to companies for renovation before the end of this year and that a huge amount was allocated in next year’s budget to renovate all the Health Centers across the country. In that regard, Minister noted that renovation of more than 50 Health Service Centers were included.
Speaking in the event, Minister Nazim said that in his recent visit to India, Indian Health Minister has agreed to provide internship training for Maldivian students who study medicine from Universities from other countries. In this regard, Minister noted that Health Ministry would announce for the students who need internship training on Wednesday. He added that the applicants would be facilitated to undergo one year training from relevant universities in India.
Minister Nazim said that training opportunities would also be provided to Maldivian doctors who have not been specialized and doctors of the required fields of specialization would be brought to Maldives in a near future.
