The President’s Office has called for applications for the post of Auditor General.
Spokesperson for the President’s Office Ibrahim Muaz Ali told Sun Online that interested people are invited to submit applications before Sunday.
While efforts have begun to appoint a new Auditor General, the dismissal of Niyaz Ibrahim from the post of Auditor General has not been announced by any government institution.
However, a recent amendment to the Audit Act states that the President should nominate an individual for the post of Auditor General and send the name to the parliament for approval, within 30 days from the day the bill is ratified.
The amendment bill was ratified by the President on Thursday, following which Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim, who submitted the bill to the parliament, said that the post of Auditor General was vacant.
