Filitheyo Island Resort has said that there was more than MVR 1 million in the safe that was stolen by a group of masked men, who went to the island and threatened and tied up two of its staff, on Saturday night.
Ibrahim Rasheed, the person who was responsible for the safe, said to Sun Online that they came to know that the safe contained more than MVR 1 million following the police investigation. He said that the safe was stolen at around 3:20 a.m. on Saturday after the group of masked men tied up the Night Auditor and Receptionist of that resort.
Ibrahim Rasheed said that police have not found any suspect regarding the case yet and that there were no CCTV cameras at the area where the safe was located.
He also said that there were two expatriate security guards on duty at the time of incident, however, none of them saw the safe being stolen.
Police said that they have searched Filitheyo Resort and nearby inhabited and uninhabited islands in search of the safe.
