The parliament has approved the appointment of Ahmed Mohamed as the Maldivian Ambassador to India.
The motion was voted in favour by 58 MPs, and against by one MP at today’s parliament sitting.
The motion was approved unanimously by all members present at the Parliament National Security Committee two days ago.
Ahmed Mohamed has served as a cabinet minister in Dr Mohamed Waheed’s government. The present government first appointed him as Commissioner General of Customs, and later as Ambassador-at-Large of Foreign Ministry at Minister level.
