Wall 20 feet high to be built around Maafushi prison

Home Ministry said that it has been decided to build a 20 feet high concrete wall around Kaafu Maafushi prison.

Thazmeel Abdul Samad, Media Official of Home Ministry said to Sun Online today that the decision of building a wall around Maafushi prison was to strengthen and improve the prison security, and that event to inaugurate building of the concrete wall around Maafushi prison would be held tomorrow at K.Maafushi.

Thazmeel said that Home Minister Umar Naseer and Commissioner of Prison Hussain Waheed would participate in tomorrow’s event to be held to inaugurate building of the concrete wall around Maafushi prison.

He said that ongoing effort is being put to improve the security issues in the prison.

While it has been decided to build a 20 feet high wall around Maafushi prison, two criminals; Ibrahim Shahum Adam, G.Cosy and Fariyash Ahmed, Ga.Maamendhoo Javaahiruvaadhy in high security at Maafushi prison have escaped recently by sawing their way through air vent. Police have arrested these two criminals and investigation regarding their escape is ongoing.
