Maldivian journalists to visit Nestl

Swiss food giant Nestlé has invited a group of Maldivian journalists to visit its office and production facility in Sri Lanka.

A total of 17 local journalists from 17 media groups departed to Colombo yesterday for the three-day visit.

Dishan Wijayawardena, Business Development Manager, Maldives, for Nestlé Lanka, said that during their time in Sri Lanka, the group will visit Nestlé facilities where they will be given information on production, hygiene, as well as the company’s policy on creating shared value.

Information will also be shared with the journalists regarding ongoing efforts to promote sports in Maldives via Milo, a popular drink among Maldivians, the Nestlé spokesperson said.

In addition to this invitation for local journalists to visit its facilities, Nestlé has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maldivian Ministry of Education, to host and conduct a ‘Milo School Awards Night’, an annual event to recognise and award students who perform exceptionally in their academics and sports in the Maldives.

Nestlé has had a presence in the Maldives since 1970.
