Tornado causes damage in Dhuvaafaru

A boat in the harbour has been damaged in Raa Dhuvaafaru, after a tornado approached the island on Thursday evening.

Dhuvaafaru Council Member Ibrahim Ali told Sun Online, “A boat was damaged when its mooring broke.The boat is 90-ft long, and the fish stored onboard also spilled out into the water.”

Ibrahim said that the tornado moreover knocked a man at the harbour into the sea, and he was rescued by a police officer.

While no damage was observed in the island, the winds blew some objects from the harbour into the island, said Ibrahim.

Police said that a 26-year-old man was rescued after he fell into the sea due to a tornado in Dhuvaafaru, by a police officer patrolling the island.
