MDP congratulates recognition of Palestine as a state by UK Parliament

The opposition party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has congratulated UK lawmakers for voting in favour of recognizing Palestine as a state.

In a statement released on Tuesday, MDP said that the UK parliament voting in favour of recognizing Palestine as a state was great progress for the people of Palestine, who have been fighting for an independent state.

The motion was voted in favour by 274 MPs and against by 12 MPs in the House of Commons. The UK parliament consists of 650 MPs.
