Maldives not expected to be affected by cyclone Hudhud, says Met Office

The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has said that Maldives is not expected to be affected by cyclone Hudhud, which has made landfall in parts of India.

The Met Office weather forecaster told Sun Online that Maldives does not face any risk from this cyclone, but will experience bad weather due to the southwest (Hulhangu) monsoon.

He said that bad weather will be experienced today and tomorrow, and winds will pick up to 45 miles per hour during storms.

Cyclones over the North Indian Ocean are named using a list provided by India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Myanmar, Oman, Sri Lanka and Thailand. The name Hudhud was provided by Oman.
