Voter registration opens for JSC election

Voter registration for electing a member to Judicial Service Commission (JSC) among lawyers have been opened for voters who wish to cast their votes to stations outside the capital city, Male’.

In an announcement released on Thursday, Attorney General Office (AG) stated that registration of the voters who wish to cast their votes to stations outside the capital city, Male’ has been opened till 3.00pm of 23rd of this month.

AG has published voter registry on Thursday for the election that would be held on 30th of this month.

AG has given opportunities for those who are interested to contest in the election to submit their application forms until 16 October.

AG has tried to hold this election twice this year. The election was cancelled the first time due to an order issued by Civil Court regarding a case filed to that court. Efforts to hold the election the second time were unsuccessful due to an order issued by Supreme Court.
