Police team attacked in Maduvvari

Five policemen who went Raa Maduvvari to arrest two people under search warrant issued by the court have been attacked.

Police media official said that a five-member police team went to Raa Maduvvari to arrest two suspects regarding two different cases under investigation.

Media official said that one of them was suspected of assaulting a group of youngsters spectating the eid show on Sunday and the other person was accused of vandalizing council office in Tuesday evening.

Media official said that the families of the two suspects and some others attacked the police and tried to take the weapons from the police while they were trying to arrest the two suspects. Media official also said those five policemen had got several injuries.

“The two suspects’ family and some other people have attacked the police who went to arrest the two people under search warrant issued by court. Those five policemen got injured. This case will be investigated by Maldives Police Service,” said media official.

There is no police station in Raa Maduvvari, although it is the third most populated island in the atoll.
