MNDF advises caution when traveling by sea

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has advised caution when traveling by sea, as bad weather will be experienced across the country over the next few days.

MNDF said in a statement today that wind will be experienced between 30 and 40 miles per hour, and up to 50 miles per hour during storms, in the southern atolls.

The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has also issued a Yellow Alert as a warning for disasters.

MNDF has advised all vessels traveling by sea to ensure that they are not overloaded, to carry draining equipment such as pumps, and to keep lifejackets within reach of passengers.
