The office of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has been set on fire.
Sun Online reporter at the scene Ahmed Saail Ali cited an eyewitness and said that the office was set on fire by a group of people who splashed petrol on the building, smashed a window, and threw a burning bottle inside.
Police said that the incident has been reported and is under investigation.
According to the eyewitness, the attacker’s clothes caught fire at one point while he was trying to set fire to the building, and the group escaped into a narrow lane nearby after the attack.
The fire, at the MDP office located at H. Sharaashaa, was extinguished moments later.
The fire left the building without electricity, and with some items inside destroyed, said Saail.
