President Yameen returns after official visits to Sri Lanka, Singapore

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has concluded his official visits to Singapore and Sri Lanka, and returned to Male’ today.

The President’s visit to Sri Lanka, to attend the opening ceremony of the 8th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), was made at the invitation of Sri Lankan president, Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Following his visit to Sri Lanka, President Yameen also visited Singapore, at the invitation of Lee Hsien Loong, the Singaporean prime minister.

The President’s Office stated today that President Yameen met with the Sri Lankan Health Minister who assured the president that they will provide assistance in hiring aestheticians, gynecologists and children’s doctors to solve the difficulties faced by Maldives in finding such specialists.

The office further said that discussions also took place regarding having additional hospitals in Sri Lanka that will treat Maldivian patients under the ‘Aasandha’ health scheme, to offer special rates for Maldivians who seek the service of Sri Lankan hospitals.
