Housing Minister, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, has stated that the project of establishing the Link Road in Laamu atoll which is to be undertaken under free aid by the Chinese government will commence by the end of next month.
Minister Dr. Muizzu, at a press conference today, said that the contractors who will handle this project have also been finalized. He said that the company has informed that construction would commence by the last week of next month, given that construction materials are brought in within the month.
“All preparations have been done, the contractors guarantee that supplies will be brought in and work will be initiated. Meanwhile, the government will clear the work site of trees and compensate for those trees,” Muizzu said.
The Link Road that is to be established in Laamu atoll, connecting Fonadhoo and Gan, is a 15.1 kilometer long road. This project is to be undertaken by Jiangsu Provisional Transport Engineering Group under free aid of the Chinese government.
As part of this project, asphalt will be laid and the road will be developed to modern standards.
