Housing Project, Link Road Project launched

The ‘Housing Project of the Maldives – Phase 2’, and the ‘Laamu Atoll Link Road Project’ have been inaugurated by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and visiting President of China Xi Jinping, at a ceremony at the President’s Office this afternoon.

The ‘Housing Project of the Maldives – Phase 2’, which will see the construction of 1,500 housing units, will be financed through concessional loan financing by the government of China, and implemented by the China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC).

The ‘Laamu Atoll Link Road Project’ will be a 15.1 kilometre long link-road, constructed through non-reimbursable aid financing by the Chinese government. The project will be undertaken by the Jiangsu Provincial Transportation Engineering Group Co. Ltd.
