The advance team of the Maldives Hajj Corporation Limited has gone to Ibrahim Nasir International Airport and returned to Male’, after being denied departure by the airline.
Sun Online has been informed that the team was scheduled to depart on Qatar Airways.
Marketing Officer of Hajj Corporation Irfan Anwar told Sun Online that the group consisted of 12 advance team members, who are employees of the Hajj Corporation.
“They were not allowed to depart due to a misunderstanding between Hajj Corporation and Qatar Airways. We had taken one-way tickets, and were only told that departure would not be allowed on one-way tickets after we approached the counter,” said Irfan.
He said that their departure has now been confirmed for this evening.
Hajj Corporation has arranged departure for this year’s hajj pilgrims on 11 and 12 September, on Mega Maldives Airlines.
