Court extends detention by 15 days for Mazin murder suspects

The Criminal Court has extended the period of detention for the four suspects arrested in connection with the stabbing and consequent death of Ahmed Mazin, 19, near Henveyru Adi Park in Male’.

The court has remanded them for 15 additional days.

The suspects are three 19-year-olds and a 22-year-old. Police have said that they have all been involved in assaults and other criminal activity in the past, but not given any further details.

Mazin was stabbed 10 times while he was near Adi Park on 2 August with his younger sibling. He died at 11:05 p.m. that night while being treated for his injuries at ADK Hospital.

His sibling, who was also stabbed in the same incident, has been released from the hospital after treatment.
