The Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) has called for broader and more serious efforts to find Minivan News journalist Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla, who is believed to have been missing since 8 August.
Speaking to Sun Online today, Spokesperson and Deputy Leader of MDA Ahmed Amir highlighted the seriousness of this case, and called on all relevant institutions to cooperate in expeditious efforts towards finding Rilwan.
He said that Rilwan’s family as well as the general public are deeply concerned over his disappearance, and stressed the importance of keeping the public informed of the latest developments in the investigation and the search efforts.
“Rilwan received several threats before he went missing, including death threats. This is an indication of the seriousness of this case. Moreover, it instils fear in the society,” said Amir, who is also the Member of Parliament for Kudahuvadhoo.
He added that MDA will support and assist any efforts towards solving difficulties that might arise due the lack of modern equipment required for such an investigation.
