Housing Minister: Male

Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said that efforts related to construction of roads in Male’ will begin this year.

Speaking to Sun Online about the flooding situation in Male’, he said that the government plans to re-construct the roads, instead of having them repaired.

“The agreement for a consultancy project regarding road construction in Male’ will be signed before the end of the year,” said Muizzu.

He promised to make efforts to find a permanent solution to the problem of flooding in Male’, by seeking consultancy from foreign groups.

He further said that the ministry will make an announcement next week, inviting groups that are interested in carrying out this work to submit documents.

Presently, mild rain causes heavy flooding in several roads in Male’, including main roads such as Ameenee Magu and Boduthakurufaanu Magu.
