Meemu Kolhufushi island council president Ibrahim Rasheed tendered his resignation close to end of working hours on Wednesday, an official from Kolhufushi council told Sun Online today.
Ibrahim Rasheed told Sun Online today that the government has refused to grant an adequate budget for the development of the island and that he resigned due to frustrations over the slow pace of development projects.
“I resigned because I do not want to be a councillor right now. We cannot carry out the projects needed for the development of the island at the speed we want. There is no budget, and there are a lot of other different issues too,” said Ibrahim Rasheed.
