Foreign Ministers of the Maldives and Lanka hold talks

The Maldivian Foreign Minister Dr. Abdul Samad Abdullah has met with his Sri Lankan counterpart G.L Peeris, who is now on an official visit to the Maldives. The two ministers today met and discussed about various issues.

The first official talks between the two government after Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik became President in the Maldives on February 7th this year were held at the Foreign Ministry.

The two ministers highlighted the importance of strengthening the long relationship of friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and Sri Lanka. Lankan Foreign Minister assured that his country would always assist in the Maldivian development efforts.

Lankan Foreign Minister, who would stay in the Maldives for three days, has also met with other senior officials of the Government.
