The Department of Immigration and Emigration has launched passport services and established an office, the Immigration Southern Regional Office, in Addu City.
The Immigration Southern Regional Office was inaugurated by Minister of Defence Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim at a ceremony in Addu City today. The ceremony was also attended by Mayor of Addu City Abdulla Sodig and Controller of Immigration Hussain Ali.
Speaking to Sun Online, Hussain Ali said that passport application forms can be submitted to the Immigration Southern Regional Office during working hours on weekdays except Tuesdays and public holidays, and that collection of passports will also be possible from the Office, on weekdays except public holidays.
Hussain Ali further said that in addition to passport services, the Immigration Southern Regional Office will also provide all other immigration services such as services related to expats.
The Department of Immigration and Emigration has also announced plans to establish an office in Kulhudhuffushi in Haa-Dhaalu Atoll on 25 July 2014.
