President appoints Muhthaz Muhusin as Prosecutor General

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has appointed Muhthaz Muhusin as the Prosecutor General.

Muthaz took his oath of office before the Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Areef at an appointment ceremony held this morning at the President’s Office.

Parliament gave consent for the former Criminal Court judge with 62 votes in favour, 7 against and 12 abstentions during the sitting on Monday.

The new Prosecutor General appointment comes seven months after Ahmed Muizzu resigned on 25 November last year.
