Riyaz appointed chairman of MRDC, Khalid as chairman of Maldives Post

Mohamed Riyaz, president of Volleyball Association of Maldives, has been appointed the chairman of state-owned Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC).

Khalid Abdulla, the chairman of MRDC prior to Riyaz’s appointment, has been appointed the chairman of Maldives Post Limited. The company’s chairman Ahmed Nizam (Kela Nizam) was dismissed.

Mohamed Riyaz was appointed chairman of MRDC on 9 July. He ran for the Henveyru-south seat on a ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) ticket in the parliamentary election on 22 March and lost to the main opposition candidate Mohamed Abdul Kareem.
