Government has opened a youth centre for Maldivians in Sosun Villa, the former Maldives High Commission office in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Minister of Youth and Sports Maleeh Jamal officially opened the centre on Tuesday night. Sosun Villa already houses the Maldivian Educational and Cultural Centre (MECC) and serves as a prominent focal point for the 14,000 Maldivians living in Sri Lanka.
Speaking at an event on Thursday night in Male', Maleeh Jamal said that the new youth centre in Colombo will be an important hub where young Maldivians can enjoy indoor games such as carom, chess, billiard, foosball and table tennis.
Ministry of Youth and Sports has established 28 youth centres across the Maldives.
