Endorsement of Health Minister sent for committee review

Parliament has today forwarded the issue of granting consent to Minister of Health Dr Mariyam Shakeela, to the Committee of Independent Institutions for review.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdulla Gayoom changed the name of Ministry of Health and Gender to the Ministry of Health, revised the ministry’s mandate and reappointed Dr Mariyam Shaleek as Minister of Health on 1 July.

The appointment was forwarded for parliament endorsement on Sunday last week.

Dr Shakeela has held the position of Minister of Health and Gender in President Abdulla Yameen's administration since 21 November 2013.
