Detention period extended of five people arrested for the murder of Shifan

The Court has extended the detention period of the five people arrested under suspicion of the murder of Shifan, 33, of M. Fairy Corner, near West Park last Sunday.

A Police Media Official said that detention period was extended for five days for four of these people, and for fifteen days for one.

The person who received fifteen days extension is Mohamed Asif of Maafahi, Lh. Kurendhoo. The people who received five days extension are Ali Malash of Finifenmaage, Hdh. Kumundhoo, Mohamed Shaifan of Male’ Dhaftharu, Ali Asif of Maafahi Lh. Kurendhoo, and one child.

Ali Shifan died at the hospital after being stabbed and left lying on the street near West Park. IGM Hospital said on the day that Shifan was dead when he was transported to hospital.

Witnesses say that he was stabbed by two people on a GN motorcycle. He had three stab wounds on the back and several on the arms. A Policeman found Shifan lying on the street.
