The government of India has gifted US$5 million to the Maldives today to assist preparations for the upcoming SAARC summit to be held in Addu city in southern Maldives.
The US$5 million aid was officially handed over to the Foreign Minister Ahmed Naseem at a ceremony held in the President’s Office this afternoon by Indian Minister of External Affairs of India Shri SM Krishna, who is currently in the Maldives for a two-day visit.
Also today, the registry paper of a plot in Malé for a new Indian High Commission building was presented to the High Commissioner of India Shri DM Muley by the Maldivian Foreign Minister Naseem.
