Vessel spotted by fishermen outside Aa. Atoll not yet found: Coast Guard

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has said that no information on the vessel spotted in the area south of Ari atoll has been obtained so far.

Coast Guard has been searching a large area 77 miles west of Aa. Atoll by sea and air since this morning, but has not been able to locate the vessel.

Efforts to find it will continue.

‘Concord’ dhoni of Aa. Ukulhas had spotted an unidentified vessel in Maldives waters and reported it to Coast Guard yesterday.

Last week, a foreign cargo ship was hijacked in Maldives exclusive economic zone. Coast Guard was on the scene and attempting to get through to the vessel, when it left Maldivian waters.
