The President’s Office has announced that, as in previous years, the government working hours during the month of Ramadan will be from 9 am to 1.30 pm.

Looking for the crescent of Ramadan will be held by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs on Saturday.

The birth of new moon will be at 18:40 hrs GMT on 30th July 2011. There for some of the muslim countries like Libya will observe fasting on 31st July 2011. But according to the Maldivian calendar Ramadan will start on 1st August 2011, Monday.
