Chief Inspector of Police Hussain Risheef Thoha has been suspended until further notice.
Risheef returned to work yesterday after being reinstated to his previous post after the Supreme Court ruled in his favour in a case appealed by the State.
Spokesperson at Maldives Police Service told Sun Online that Risheef was suspended today.
Sources have told Sun Online that Risheef was suspended following accusations of violating the Police Code of Conduct, which are under investigation.
Risheef was dismissed after being accused of forcing a girl into a police car near Maaveyo Mosque and raping her on the night of 6 August 2010.
He was also arrested in March 2014 on suspicion of drinking beer at Dharavandhoo Airport in Baa Atoll.
