MATATO concerned over efforts to lease Jet Terminal to foreign groups

Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has expressed concern over reports of efforts to hand over the management of the Private Jet Terminal and FBO Facilities at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) to foreign companies.

MATATO said in a statement today that this would have negative consequences for local companies.

“Several Maldivian companies act as ground handlers and supervision agents for private and corporate jets that travel to Maldives. Most of these companies rely fully on profits,” read the statement.

MATATO recommended holding discussions to find alternatives to leasing the Jet Terminal and FBO Facilities to foreign companies.

“These services can be promoted by Maldives Airports Company Limited and provided by the government, instead of leasing the Jet Terminal and FBO Facilities to foreign companies,” read the statement.
