Nolhivaranfaru boat still missing: MNDF

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has said that the fishing boat from Haa Dhaalu Nolhivaranfaru, which capsized and went missing as it was entering the Nolhivaranfaru harbour yesterday evening, has still not been found.

MNDF Spokesperson Hussain Ali said that efforts are still ongoing to locate ‘Nasru’.

‘Nasru’ capsized after meeting an extreme wave at the entrance to the harbour, following which all seven people on-board swam onshore to safety. The boat went adrift and has been missing since.

One fisherman on-board injured his back as the boat overturned, and is undergoing treatment at Nolhivaran Health Centre.

The 45-foot long fishing boat was carrying its catch back to the island when it met this accident.
